2015 Virginia Private College Week (July 27-August 1)

The 2015 Virginia Private College Week will be held Monday, July 27 through Saturday, August 1.  Details for the 2015 Virginia Private College Week will be posted as soon as they are finalized.

Save Money

You may be interested in just visiting one or two colleges during the week. However, if you visit three or more participating colleges during Virginia Private College Week, you will receive three application fee waivers. This means no application fee for three Virginia private colleges of your choice.

Visiting Colleges Is Important

Web sites, brochures, and the recommendations of friends are definitely helpful. However, visiting campuses in person is one of the most important steps in the college search process.
Which college is the best fit for you? Which college just feels right?

The Private College Advantage

During Virginia Private College Week, you will learn about the quality and affordability of our colleges.
Private colleges are different from many state universities because of our small classes and the personal attention our students receive from faculty. Our students are engaged in the classroom, involved on campus, mentored by their professors, and prepared for a career or graduate school.

23 members of the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) host two daily programs for rising juniors and seniors -- and their families. Prospective transfer students are also invited. The program includes a campus tour and an information session about admissions, financial aid, and academic/extracurricular programs.
On Monday-Friday, there will be a morning (9:00 am) and afternoon (2:00 pm) session.* On Saturday, there will be a morning (9:00 am) session only. There are colleges with exceptions to this schedule, which will be listed below when the colleges finalize their Virginia Private College Week schedules.

Do I Need To Register?
No, but we strongly recommend that you contact the colleges you plan to visit. Email addresses and telephone numbers of participating institutions can be found here. If you are using a smart phone to access the map, please view the contact information for the colleges using the college profiles, which may be accessed here.

Here's How You Participate:

1.Decide which colleges you would like to visit.
2.You don't need to register for the event, but we strongly recommend that you contact the colleges you plan to visit. Use the Contact Our Colleges! web form on the right hand side of this page!  Your email will be sent to the colleges of your choice.

3.Organize your travel plans. Driving directions are available on individual college web sites. This is not an organized bus tour.

4.If you visit at least 3 participating colleges you will receive 3 application fee waivers.  You may use the application fee waivers at any college participating in Virginia Private College Week--not necessarily the ones you visited.

5.The application fee waivers will be emailed to eligible participants in late September.

6.If you have questions, please contact the CICV at (540) 586-0606 or email
We look forward to seeing you!!!
